Invitation to Bong Joon-ho

A major filmmaker riding the sensational wave of the 2000s (with Park Chan-wook, a Lumière guest in 2017), the director of Memories of Murder, already of cult status, and Parasite, Palme d'Or 2019, Bong Joon-ho will be fêted at Lumière 2019. He will also share his selection of Korean movies with us in a carte blanche. Events: Okja, in its first theatrical showing, Barking Dog, his first film ever released in Europe, and a Bong Joon-ho all-nighter at the Institut Lumière.

 

Barking Dog by Bong Joon-ho (Flandersui gae, 2000, 1h50)
Yun-ju, a young unemployed teacher, is irritated by the dog barking in his building... Bong Joon-ho’s début feature film, unclassifiable, between black comedy and social critique, shown in French theaters for the first time.
