Ken Loach returns to the Lumière festival

Laureate of the Lumière Award in 2012, and since crowned with a second Palme d’Or, Ken Loach comes back to Lyon for an exceptional – and political – meeting with the public, and the premiere of his new movie, Sorry We Missed You, selected for competition at the Cannes Film Festival this year.

Roman Coppola will introduce his film CQ au festival Lumière !

The festival will have the pleasure of screening his movie CQ, released in 2001. A heartfelt ode to the cinema (and, in a way, to his father, a young American living in 1960s Paris), starring Billy Zane, Elodie Bouchez, Gérard Depardieu, among others, the film will be introduced by Roman Coppola in the big movie theater of the Institut Lumière, in a beautiful 35mm print.

Henri-Georges Clouzot’s Inferno by Serge Bromberg and Ruxandra Medrea (L’Enfer d’Henri-Georges Clouzot, 2009, 1h40)
1964. Clouzot begins filming the revolutionary picture Inferno, starring Romy Schneider and Serge Reggiani, but after encountering a host of major problems, the project is abandoned, and the film reels disappear. After finding them, Serge Bromberg and Ruxandra Medrea release a fascinating documentary about the seemingly cursed movie.

Clémentine Autain, the daughter of the actress and author of Dites-lui que je l’aime (Grasset), will join us to talk about her mother through her book and the screening of The Crying Woman by Jacques Doillon.

Screening of A Letter to Freddy Buache, a short film by Jean-Luc Godard, in tribute to the figure who was director of the Cinémathèque Suisse in Lausanne for nearly half a century and “the biggest rebel of Swiss cinema,” who passed away this year.
